Sales and Negotiation

In Sales, if you are playing to win, you are most probably going to lose. You have to play for the other side to WIN, because if they win, you have automatically WON.

This’s a quote from one of those quick Instagram interview reels.. and feels like this basically captures the essence of the Customer Obsession point in Amazon’s Leadership principles.

The reason why I’m adding this to my TIL journal is that many first time entrepreneurs (especially engineers turned founders) feel shy or awkward about jumping into the role of Sales, but as I’m learning more in the journey of entrepreneurship, there are 2 things you gotta be solid at, or keep growing in, to lead a successful company – Product and Sales, seems non-negotiable.
